The list server is robust. You have the capacity to change standard header and footer information. You can send text and html mail. Your e-mail list is maintained remotely as people can subscribe and unsubscribe without your intervention. Mail that fails to be delivered (client changed service, etc.) is removed without your intervention. You can review the current list at anytime and download it to your local system for analysis or other uses. A large array of other capacities are present, so if you need another service added to the standard set up, contact us with details and we will examine the request for adding to standard services or a special capacity for your specific need. Our list server is how we contact our clients with notifications and our monthly newsletter.

Your clients must be some kind of opt in client. NO SPAMMING from our servers is allowed. Spamming, as defined by OfficeOnWeb is using our servers to:

• send more than 10 e-mail's per day of unauthorized and unsolicited e-mail addresses obtained through a third party
• send more than 10 e-mail's in a single day that is not a previous contact, have never visited your site, or never requested to join your list
• sending your e-mail to your list more than once a week, unless otherwise authorized by your opt in system

Failure to meet these terms of service (TOS) will result in termination of service without refund for the unused period. If you think we need to expand your SPAM definitions, contact us and we will consider the request.

What is a listserver?

Simply, a listserver is a computer that maintains mail boxes that receive simple e-mail messages and re-sends them to multiple recipients, or "subscribers" to the list.

For example, e-mail messages sent to "testlist@lists.officeonweb.net" would be delivered to all the "subscribers" of the list. If a list has a moderator, that person might screen messages before they are delivered.

How do I get on an existing list?

If you know the e-mail address of the list. Then, you would send a subscribe message to the listserver requesting a subscription. For example, to subscribe to the list named "testlist" you would send an e-mail message (plain text only) to "testlist@lists.officeonweb.net" with the following text in the body of the message:

subscribe testlist yourfirstname yourlastname

You can also do it through a subscriber sign up page which is programed to do this.

If your subscription request is successful, you will receive a confirmation message from the listserver with a welcome message and further list instructions.

How do I start a list?

You must request one. If you are an existing client, and are below 1,000 e-mails per month, contact our support group. If you are not a client or need more, see our order section.
