Review (10/95): Dave describes the dark side of tourism with such comical precision that you'll wonder why you ever bother to leave the safety of your living room. For my money, nobody has ever produced a better snapshot of the Baggage Carousel, "where passengers traditionally gather at the end of a flight to spend several relaxing hours watching the arrival of luggage from some other flight, which comes randomly spurting out of a mysterious troll-infested tunnel that is apparently connected to another airport, possibly in a different dimension." Review (6/97): This is one of the admirable "100 hikes in" series. If you are planning a visit to Arizona and especially the Grand Canyon, this book is a good reference to take along. The book describes the high country of the north through the transition around Sedona (of the vortices) to the desiccated southern deserts. Review (12/96): A good resource for locating that spot to stop by and visit while on your invterval exchange vacation. Although this book was written in 1995, since it refers to many locations that will, hopefully, never change and will remain excellent places to return to again and again.
