- Nice location but far from slopes.
- Close to shopping, right in town of Avon and next to Interstate 70.
- Pool? That's a pool?
- Some rooms are really small.
Christy lodge is more like a large hotel that has small suites. Most of the rooms have the cubby type kitchens. Management is very nice to you, but the resort is definitely not the top of the line. However, it is a very family oriented resort. It is close to Beaver Creek and a free shuttle takes you there. Recent renovations have improved the resort quite a bit. The pool is really small.
The town of Avon is located near Vail and Beaver Creek. It is a friendly town without the glitz of Vail or Beaver Creek. It is within a few miles of both these, so you can visit the glitz at will. Prices in Avon are excellent and not resort-ish. The area offers winter skiing (downhill, cross country, and extreme), hot-air balloon rides, mountain biking, hiking, summer golf, and a lot more. The "Eagle Valley" is definitely worth visiting. While a car makes visiting the many sites easier, if skiing or golf is your main goal, it is not necessary.
Avon is about 3-hours from Denver International Airport. (DIA) Shuttles to and from the Avon area leave hourly or better. Air transportation to the nearby town of Eagle is also available but will cost more. For those on a budget, flying into Colorado Springs may be less expensive in airfare. However, either an additional bus type trip to DIA for the Eagle Valley shuttles, or rental of a car would be necessary to obtain this discount
