What is the SNAP server advantage? There are two traditional options for expanding network storage: 1) adding hard drives to an existing server or 2) adding a new file server to the LAN. Both of these cost thousands more than the SNAP.

Easier than adding a hard disk SNAP Servers offer radically lower purchase cost and total cost of ownership compared to traditional file servers capable of performing the same functions. SNAP Servers also have no additional administrative overhead. And unlike NT or NetWare servers, SNAP Servers come with an unlimited user license. Adding hard drives into an existing file server necessitates technical expertise, and the risk of extended network downtime if the process doesn't go as smoothly as anticipated. SNAP Servers involve NO network downtime. Lower cost & less hassle than adding a server Adding another traditional file server to a network involves considerable expense above the cost of the basic server hardware: additional controller cards, monitor, keyboard and operating system software licenses. Plus, there's the administration overhead associated with adding another traditional server to the network.

SNAP Servers are self-contained, require no additional software licenses, and are virtually maintenance-free after initial installation and set up. Superior to other NAS products Evaluate two key areas when comparing other NAS products to the SNAP Server: 1) SNAP Servers are configured to support Microsoft, NetWare, Macintosh and UNIX/Linux clients simultaneously. No other NAS server on the market today offers this degree of multi-platform support. 2) Using the Ziff-Davis NetBench test, SNAP Servers show robust performance under extended load with an excess of fifteen clients. Some NAS products perform well with five or six clients, but often have severe problems handling over fifteen clients. SNAP has none of these problems.
